It’s a new month! It’s a new update! This one is the start of Spring! Hence, the pink and green on the site. Spring’s a time for growth, so lets aim for more votes and players than we’ve ever had before! We’ve got some exciting new content this month: boosters, improvements for map creators and a brand-new map! Scroll down to fine out more!

Boosters

Boosters are now finally here! They are initially at an early release, so we want to gradually give more and more out the players. We’re also still looking into how you might earn them, through levelling up and opening the shop again for booster purchases are all ideas we’re exploring. They come in three styles:

How do I earn boosters?

So, to start with, staff can give them away via competitions (or just in-game).

The next way to earn them is through MVPs. When you obtain an MVP, there’s a chance to gain a booster. What type it will be is random, with pre-set battlepoint boosters being the most common, while wild kit boosters the rarest. This is planned to be the main method to earn boosters currently to avoid flooding the market, especially if there are critical bugs that have been missed.

In the future, one of the most important methods will be purchasing them in the shop. This will be the best way to support the server and help keep it going. We don’t want to do this yet though as the boosters system is very new and hasn’t undergone extensive testing. When we feel it is stable however, we will certainly be adding it.

The other possibility for earning battlepoints in the future would be through levels. Currently a level up isn’t that exciting, maybe a message in chat. Granting boosters instead will make a level up more exciting, as well as rewarding players that keep coming back. To make it fair, all rewards would be pre-set. It also means we can make certain levels grant extra special rewards, maybe a 24 hour 5.0x booster for reaching level 40? Who knows?

Coin Boosters

Coin boosters increase the coin multiplier! Any coins you earn will be multiplied by the current coin multiplier. While it doesn’t affect how much you gain from secrets or bounties, it will as of this update also affect what bounties the server sets for killstreaks.

Coin boosters will generally range from +50% to +250%, and last 30-150 minutes. However, there is no reason a coin booster can’t have anything outside these values.

When multiple coin boosters are active at once, they increase the coin multiplier additively. That is, one +150% booster and one +75% booster alone with the original 1.0x coin multiplier means the total coin multiplier will be 3.25x.

Battlepoint Boosters (BP Booster)

Battlepoint boosters increase the battlepoint multiplier! Any bsttlepoints you earn will be multiplied by the current battlepoint multiplier. They generally last 5-45 minutes.

BP boosters come in two types, a pre-set and a player set. Pre-set will tell you how much it will boost the battlepoint multiplier by. Player-set allows the person who uses the booster to choose what percentage to boost by. How sensibly players use this to begin with will depend on how frequently player-set bp boosters are to pre-set. When choosing the boost modifier, the limits are ±1.8x10308, too large to type in Minecraft. While you can set negative values, the overall multiplier can never go below 0, meaning any battlepoints you earn, you cannot lose through a change in the multiplier.

When multiple battlepoint boosters are active at once, they increase (or decrease) the battlepoint multiplier additively. That is, one +150% booster and one +75% booster alone with the original 1.0x battlepoint multiplier means the total battlepoint multiplier will be 3.25x.

Kit Boosters

Kit boosters unlock an elite or team kit for everyone for their duration! Only pre-set kit boosters can be team kits however. They generally last 30-150 minutes.

Kit boosters come in three types. Pre-set has the kit chosen for you. This can either be and elite or team kit. Be careful however, as there’s no checking you’re on the right map to activate the team booster... Random is the next type. This is probably the most common kit booster, it randomly selects an elite kit to boost. Player-set is the rarest booster. It allows you to pick which elite kit you’d like to boost. Can you smell the power?

New Map - Gregynog

Pronounced as Gre-guh-nog and built by SkyFang16 & Greenfoot5. It’s a Welsh house owned by the Gregynog family, attacked by The Inquisition on the belief they’ve been performing dark and occult acts.

Map Maker Improvements

For all the builders out there, we’ve got THREE exciting new map features you can now utilise.

Button Doors

Too long have buttons been left behind! Now button can activate those ConwyMC doors you know and love. Pressure plates and levels are out, buttons are in. So be wary, for those normal looking buttons on maps, may in fact open a secret door, allowing you to bypass security...

Buttons doors come with their own set of options in the doors configuration, allowing you to set multiple buttons, and even a delay after a button is pressed before a door is opened.

Secret Flags

Another feature for hiding things in maps. Ever wanted to hide a flag in your map, from the scoreboard as too? Well now you can!

Hidden flags start the game hidden from the leaderboard, with no name hologram nearby. They will remain like so, not counting towards who wins until a player starts capturing them, where it will suddenly pop up on the scoreboard and start counting. I’m sure it could really mess up a game if a flag like this was revealed 5 minutes before the game ends.

Flag Schematics

Currently, flags are painstakingly animated block by block, which can lead to quite a few errors. Well, those days are over! Flag “frames” now support world edit schematics, so you can save each flag position for each team to be place in-game when needed. It also means you can now change non-wool blocks! Yay! You could make your flags out of dirt and cobblestone now if you really wanted to, or perhaps when a team captures a flag, the area around it changes to match their team? The possibilities are (almost) limitless!

Balance Changes

Because it wouldn’t be a monthly update without them! There shouldn’t be anything too major in this, just some small changes to help even the playing field

  • Flags
    • Flag capping speed reduced by 23% (back to what it was before the February Update)
    • Additional player multiplier reduced from 2.1x to 2.0x, meaning it’s just as fast to split up as to stick together
  • Cakes
    • Regeneration is of a higher level
    • Regeneration duration is longer
  • Arbelester
    • Crossbow now has piercing 1, was 2
  • Crossbow
    • Now only has 0 piercing (no longer hit shieldman through shields)
  • Executioner
    • Execute is now activated when a player has 30% hp rather than 33.33%
    • Regeneration is reduced from 18 to 15
  • Fire Archer
    • Now starts with the maximum amount of fire arrows (normal arrow count was reduced to match)
  • Medic
    • Now drinks the instant healing instantly
  • Shieldman
    • Now has 50% knockback resistance
  • Spearman
    • Throw delay reduced from 0.3s to 0.25s
    • Attack damage increased from 40 to 45
    • Regen increased from 10.5 to 12

Bug Fixes

There’s always more bugs to fix...

  • Trying to spawn in at a flag under attack with not enough battlepoints will no longer subtract battle points.
  • Fixed a cake bug causing all healing to break
  • Spectators can no longer collect secrets
  • Fixed some typos in battle point earning messages
  • When gaining coins from voting, you should no longer see a message telling you staff gave you coins
  • Crossbow’s mode swap enchants are fixed
  • No longer lose BP when the map ends if you didn’t die
  • Settings not saving on restart
  • Beds no longer reset spawn points

Other Changes

Some stuff that didn’t fit into other areas, but is still worth mentioned

  • Battlepoint gain messages are no longer sent if you’re level 17 or higher. These can be switched on again via settings
  • For our PPM Hosts, ChatMod+ can now run all required commands to setup PPMs. Maps will still need to be set ahead of time by a developer.
  • Coinshop has been formatted and improved
  • /kit can now be run outside the lobby again
  • Domination/Assault maps can now result is draws (rather than wins for the attacking team)
